Upcoming Conference
I am back from a trip to the Abacos in the northern Bahamas and have to report that observing the condition of the reefs was sobering. I have been visiting theses islands over the past 40 years and ths visit I was literally shocked by the degree of bleaching and overharvesting of the fragile coral reef ecosystem which as my daughter Reisha reminded me, is the oldest ecosystem on the planet. While some may consider this mildly noteworthy, this does represent another strand lost in the delicate web of life which sustains us.
On another note, I look forward to meeting all who plan to attend my lecture next Saturday in Edison, New Jersey at Solaris Health Systems, JFK Medical Center’s Conference on Integrative Medicine. June 20, 2009, 8:30 – 10:15am
I will be presenting the keynote address “Innovative Approaches to Challenging Neurological Disorders”.

Dear Dr.;
Mass General just held a week long conference for internists and GP’s. A report that universal use of statins would reduce stroke incidence by 88%….they are pondering a proposal to make them available as a preventative. As a society, are we better off with this, or, educating the population to rice and fish? Keep up your great work. (my wife, a nutritionalist, has been using your “Better Brain Book” as a bible lately.)

Amos,
I think the move to widen the use and availability of statins may cause more harm than good.
