"These new online services, which typically cost the same as a regular office visit, are aimed primarily at those who already have a doctor.

The virtual visits are considered best for follow-up consultations and treatment for minor ailments such as colds and sore throats."

You mean I dont have to go to the doctors office anymore?

That is interesting....oh the things you can now do with the internet.

Nice Post.

Thanks.

Hi David:

I just came across your blog and thought this might be of interest to you. In August my clients, Drs. David Best and Michael Banks, launched an informational Web site called “The Doctor’s Channel” which has been referred to as a “YouTube for doctors.” The Doctor’s Channel is a physicians-only site where docs can film and post short videos pertaining to anything they think would be of interest to their peers, such as therapy approaches, surgical procedures, new drugs, etc. These videos are 1-2 minute bite-sized morsels, choc-full of information, to fit a doctor’s hectic schedule.

Banks and Best founded the site because they felt they learned the most about medicine when they were in the lunchroom, chatting with other doctors. So they wanted to create a site that allowed physicians to share their experiences in order to better serve their patients.

Please consider featuring The Doctor’s Channel on your blog in the near future. Any physician can sound off on The Doctor’s Channel about timely, relevant issues in their field.

Below is a link to the site. I hope to hear from you soon!

http://www.thedoctorschannel.com/

The site wouldn't acccept my work email (nlaster@maloneyfox.com) so I have entered my Gmail. Work is the best way to reach me.

Thanks,
Nicole

We make extensive use of email in our practice with 4 sites and 10 providers. We have an in-house exchange server, etc.... Two years ago we offered email as a way to refer patients (we are a specialty group) and much to our surprise it increased the workload. Between missing attachements, misplaced emails and forgotten responses it turned into a bit of a mess. Since then we paid our database designer to integrate the exchange server and our referral system (not that expensive actually) so that everything is automated. Email is a great tool and can save the patients significant time but I would caution readers to do a through process map before launching into any initiative with it. As we found out, there are many booby-traps. I've put more on it at my blog David and would welcome any feedback. www.waittimes.blogspot.com
