Good morning to all my readers. First, my thanks for your devotion and comments.
Well, it’s Sunday morning and the rest of my family remains asleep. This is always a good time for me to focus – read and write.
I watch with interest as, after an unusual delay, the tropics have become quite active as we now follow three storms. Likely Bill will develop. We are less than a month away from the peak of the hurricane season, so no doubt things will just become much more active from now on.
I guess the main issue seems to be the healthcare debate. And what is so very perplexing for me is the virtual lack of recognition that this has very little to do with health. Basically, the debate focuses on how individuals are able to obtain care for their illnesses, and what degree the government plays in bringing this about. Thus, there is an almost complete lack of consideration of maintaining health – and preventing disease in the first place. So we should be calling this the government’s “illness care proposal.”
The Yellow Emperor in the 4th century BCE stated,”Prevention is the ultimate principle of wisdom. To cure a disease after it has manifest is like digging a well when one feels thirsty, or forging weapons when the war has already begun.” We need to take this message to heart today. We cannot afford not to.
